    Milan Chakrabarty, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internal medicine expert. He leads GI-Excellence in Hemet, California, initially known as the Hemet Endoscopy Center. For him, providing top-quality medical care has always been a central focus.

     

    His advanced expertise in interventional endoscopy is highly specialized. He focuses on procedures that prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat complex conditions such as Barrett's Esophagus, Biliary Disease, pancreatic cysts, gastrointestinal bleeding, and gastrointestinal cancers. Hospitals across the region highly value his knowledge and skills.

     

    He is widely recognized as the first G.I. specialist in Southern California's Inland Empire, having established his practice over 43 years ago. The Inland Empire includes San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Along with his team, he has made compassionate patient care a cornerstone of the practice. Furthermore, the facility he leads is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, setting a high standard in the region. This is the only ambulatory surgical center in the area that can match the equipment and care provided to patients.

     

    The Passion for Medicine Runs Deep

     

    His passion for medicine was kindled early in life. Born in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai, India, he hails from a family deeply rooted in medicine. His father, grandfather, and three uncles were all family physicians, inspiring him to pursue a similar path. As a child, he often assisted his father in his family practice, with his mother also playing a significant role in his education by tutoring him.

     

    Milan Chakrabarty MD's Medical Education

     

    Milan Chakrabarty, MD, pursued his medical education at Grand Medical School College, Mumbai University, earning his M.B.B.S. (equivalent to M.D.). He completed his medical internship at J.J. Group of Hospitals at Mumbai University. His residency was at St. George Hospital in Mumbai, with additional subspecialty medical resident rotations at G.T. Hospital, Mumbai.

     

    After completing his residency, he moved to England, where he continued his work in Internal Medicine at Mount Pleasant Hospital, Cardiff University in Swansea, South Wales, for three years.

     

    From the United Kingdom to the United States

     

    Following his time in Swansea, South Wales, he relocated to the United States with his wife and two children. He served as a Resident Physician at Metropolitan Jewish Medical Center in Coney Island, New York, and as an Internal Medicine Resident at St. Clare's Hospital & Health Center in Manhattan.

     

    He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

     

    The Move Out West

     

    In the early 1980s, Milan Chakrabarty, MD, relocated to Hemet, California, where he established the G.I. Department at Hemet Valley Medical Center. 1982, he became Sun City, California's first hospice medical director.

     

    In 1992, he founded the Hemet Endoscopy Center and established the Hemacinto Medical Group the following year. In 2004, he built new medical and state-of-the-art surgery centers.

     

    He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His professional contributions include co-authoring the study, "Determination of Circulating D.N.A. Levels in Patients with Benign or Malignant Gastrointestinal Disease, Cancer."

     

    He has also led seminars in his areas of expertise, including a presentation at the Hemet Daze Community Health Education and Screening Fair on "Colon Cancer Awareness." He was invited as a guest speaker at the Hemet Rotary Club, where he spoke on bowel cancer, discussing "Regaining & Ensuring Intestinal Health G.I. Problems: What Can You Do?"

     

    A Family Tradition of Physicians and Promoting Healthy Living Continues

     

    Milan Chakrabarty, MD, has been married to his wife, Manjushree, for 52 years. They have three sons, two of whom are physicians. His eldest son is an Internist, and his second son, trained at Boston University and Lahey Clinic, practices in Temecula, California, as the only Advanced Interventional Gastroenterologist in the Inland Empire, California. He and his youngest son co-founded the wellness carbonated beverage "T.U.R.V.E.D.A." This drink, which draws on Ayurvedic medicine, contains scientifically backed ingredients to improve digestive health and boost immunity. It provides nearly 20% of one's daily fiber in a wellness shot, free from the sugar and citric acid in traditional sodas.

    Milan S. Chakrabarty, MD, enjoys collecting European antiques, sculptures, and paintings when not practicing medicine. His passion for European art and sculpture is proudly showcased within and around the offices of G.I. Excellence. He also has a keen interest in cars and stamp collections and enjoys photography, traveling, and boating. More recently, he has taken up painting.
